NZGA Submission on Natural and Built Environments Act Exposure Draft (July 2021)

In February 2021, the Government announced it would repeal and replace the RMA. An exposure draft of the first of three proposed Acts is open for comment and submission. The Natural and Built Environments Act (NBA) aims to protect and restore the environment while better enabling development, and is the primary replacement for the RMA.

After consulting with its Board and membership base, the NZGA has lodged this submission in response to the draft, on behalf of its members.

The NBA Act and the Strategic Planning Act will be formally introduced in early 2022, and the geothermal world will be watching with interest as to the resulting changes.
