In early 2022, Top Energy and Northpower announced their hope to trial NZ's first Renewable Energy Zone. These Zones, being led by Transpower New Zealand, are a step towards making Aotearoa carbon neutral through collaboration between renewable energy providers.
Transpower has sought consultation on the both the Renewable Energy Zones and the Northland Pilot Concept, and the NZGA has prepared this submission in response to these documents.
We look forward to seeing how this Northland Pilot progresses, with a vision of strong geothermal contribution to Renewable Energy Zones in the future.
